Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football and community service. First of all, he was raised with Lucious and Jessie Selmon, on the farm close to Eufala within Oklahoma as the youngest of their nine children. Second football he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the United States. He won two championships and the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as Oklahoma's main man. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975 and selected as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon received his bachelor's master's degree in educational studies. Fourth-year service in the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. After graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa which is where he played for 9 years with Tampa's Buccaneers. There were three times he was named All-Pro. Then he began his business career. In 1988, while working as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa, he worked with Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the top 10 young men across the nation. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 6-2. When he was playing college, he commanded the 1975 team. In 1993 he was appointed associate director of the University of South Florida. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame by The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 gave its Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
