Lucy Liu is an American actress voice actress director producer and a singer. She is a beautiful and knowledgeable actress she serves as an inspiration to many Asian actors who want to break into Hollywood. Following a string of early appearances on popular TV shows, she gained fame as she was a part of the ensemble of the comedy legal series Ally McBeal where she played the villainous Ling Woo. The fame she gained from the show was translated into movies like Shanghai Noon or Charlie's Angels. Her next performance was a dazzling performance as Japanese crime lord, O-RenIshii for Quentin's Kill Bill Volume 1. At the same time, she was also in part in the leading roles of some movies that were not a success at the box office like Rise: Blood Hunter. After that, she started to voice prominent characters in animation films, such as Kung Fu Panda. The small screen role of Mia Mason in Cashmere Mafia failed to produce positive results. Southland is a critically-acclaimed series of police dramas which included Liu in regular roles, helped her find her own identity. Liu is extremely cautious when choosing her roles so that she does not become cast in a very competitive industry. Though she has embraced her heritage, she hasn't allowed them to restrict her as an artist.
