Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actor. She was born in Winnipeg and raised in Wellington Paquin was able to make her acting debut portraying Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at age 11 and was the 2nd youngest recipient of the award in Oscar history. Anna Paquin's full name is Anna Helene Paquin. Born on July 24, 1982, at Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was an Canadian native New Zealand actress. As a child, Paquin won her the Academy Award for best support actress. Her performance as the enthusiastic and lively young girl Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) was the reason she won the prize. In response to an open audition call and was selected for the part, she was cast as Flora McGrath, the daughter of a mute Scottish pianist who relocates from Scotland to New Zealand in mid-19th-century to get married. It was her first role at the age of nine, and she had no acting experience. In her teens, Paquin made the move to America. Paquin was in a brief role in the film's title role when she was just a young girl in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) as well as an important role in the movie Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin played a minor role in the television movie of 1997 version of Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding. She also played the Princess of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (2007). The actress played teenagers as teens in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (1998), A Walk on the Moon (1998) and Almost Famous (2000). Also, she played the character of Polexia Aphrodisa.
